JSMS Committee on Composite Materials
(JCOM)

JSMS Committee on Composite Materials,
The Society of Material Science, Japan
Our committee was established in July 1965 as the "Committee on Reinforced Plastics" and it is Japan's first academic organization for composite materials. It was renamed to its current name in December 1997.
History of JCCM conference
The JCCM, which is held annually in collaboration with the Japan Society for Composite Materials, is our committee's largest event, and has been held annually in March since 1972. At that time, the conference was held under the formerly known name "FRP Symposium." Considering new developments based not only on the material aspect of "FRP" but also on the idea and concept of "composite," the conference was given the subtitle "JCOM: JSMS COMPOSITES" and its official name was changed to "JCOM" in March 2007. In order to further develop JCOM into "Japan's leading conference on composite materials," it was integrated with the annual academic conference that the Japan Society for Composite Materials held every May-June, and it made a new start as the "Japan Joint Conference on Composite Materials," jointly hosted by the two organizations. The first JCCM conference was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto in March 2010, and since then it has been held alternately in Tokyo and the Kansai region around March every year, and it has developed into Japan's leading conference on composite materials in both name and reality. The current official name of the conference is "Japan Conference on Composite Materials."
